The Nest

santa monica | CA

In Santa Monica, The Nest transforms a portion of an existing residence into a dedicated daycare facility through interior conversion and expansion. Tailored specifically for early childhood development, the project includes child-sized facilities, safe play areas, and a warm, residential atmosphere that reflects the program’s family-centered values. The adaptive reuse of the home into a daycare maintains neighborhood scale and character while increasing access to local childcare—a critical need in a city with growing family populations. The Nest exemplifies how residential spaces can evolve to meet community-serving functions, offering a replicable model for integrating early education into urban neighborhoods.
