CASE STUDY

KENWOOD

UNIVERSITY PARK | lOS ANGELES, CA

In University Park, Los Angeles, the Kenwood project involves the demolition of a detached garage to develop a new Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). Designed for the property owner’s grandson and his young family, the project supports generational housing within a long-established immigrant household. The ADU offers a compact yet adaptable living space that meets modern residential needs while reinforcing familial ties. Set in a dense urban area near USC, the design prioritizes privacy, functionality, and affordability, allowing the family to remain rooted in the community. Kenwood represents a broader movement toward equitable housing solutions that enable long-term residents to build intergenerational wealth and resilience.
